ALL ABOUT HSSC VOLLEYBALL

It doesn’t take long to realize why volleyball is our most popular every season. In the fall and winter, we offer court volleyball 5 nights a week and in the summer we offer court volleyball 2 nights a week and beach volleyball 3 days a week. The way we see it is the more HSSC volleyball the better!

Our court volleyball is 6-on-6 and offered at three skill levels: recreational, intermediate and advanced. Our beach volleyball offers both 6-on-6 with recreational and intermediate divisions and 4-on-4 with recreational, intermediate and advanced divisions.

You can sign up in any league as a team, individual or an individual with friend requests! Pick the league that is right for you, find your volleyball and we will see you on the courts!

Volleyball games are 55-minutes.
Court Volleyball is played in gyms across Halifax and Dartmouth. Some of our main gyms are (but not limited to) Halifax Grammar, Canada Games Centre, Armbrae Academy, and Halifax Independent School
Sunday, Monday and Thursday Beach Volleyball games are played at VNS Beach Volleyball Courts in Burnside.
Wednesday Beach Volleyball games are played at Greenfoot Energy Centre Beach Volleyball Courts in West Bedford.
Grass Volleyball is offered on Tuesdays!
Rosters & Schedules will be available to registered players at least two days prior to your first game

Skill Division & Roster

Recreational, Intermediate and Advanced leagues offered
Beach Volleyball is offered with 4s and 6s.
HSSC will assemble individual teams and you will be encouraged to connect with your teammates via your team portal prior to your first
Mixed gender leagues must always play with a minimum of 2 men and 2 women on the court. 4’s teams must always play with a minimum of 1 man and 1 woman on the court.
Open Gender (Sunday leagues) are played without gender requirments for players on the court.
*NEW* Sunday Women’s League!
- Note: If we do not register a minimum of 4 teams for this new league, we will merge the women’s only teams and individuals into the Sunday Open Gender Volleyball league that plays in the same locations and time slots as the women’s only league.

Matches are comprised of three sets and the first team to score 25 points by a two-point margin (with a hard cap of 27 points) is awarded the set

All teams are required to bring equipment: 1 volleyball (not available to rent with HSSC)
